A big THANK YOU to

Missouri Council of the National Association of Insurance Women
for allowing me to present to your members!

Another Year, Another List?

I must confess, even though I am an adamant list maker, I don’t believe in New Year’s Resolutions. Oh, of course I’ve tried them, over and over and over, but from my experience they are good in concept and bad in execution. For some they can actually be an excuse to fail.

So, as I look over 2004 and plan for 2005, I choose to focus on what I accomplished and learned instead of what I didn’t get done. Here are a few from my list:

-At the age of (oops), lets say mid-forties, I, who had never been a runner, learned to run a consistent, 1 to 2 miles, three or four times a week.

-I co-authored a book entitled “Life Compass for Women”

-I became a little better at accepting others as they are instead of always trying to improve or help. I still can’t accept myself as I am but you have to have something to work on, right?

-I rekindled two old friendships that I had seriously missed in my life.

-I took on the role of caregiver for my Mother who suffers from dementia and gained many insights into the disease and our relationship.

-I began painting, designing and creating artwork again after many years of being stagnant.

-I learned that God is with me all the time, whether I choose to listen or not.

Before you write the list of what you want to do, think you should do, or ought to do, make a list of what you have done and the life lessons you have learned over the past year. Take time to celebrate yourself as you bravely face the New Year numbered 2005!
